X-C polymer

a biopolymer produced from a particular strain of bacteria on carbohydrates that produces large increases in apparent viscosity while maintaining fairly good control of filtration.

X-ray testing

see radiographic examination or testing.

X-treme line casing

brand name for streamlined casing, which features couplings threaded into the body of the casing itself; therefore, it does not require separate casing couplings to connect the joints. Streamlined casing is useful where casing of a given diameter must be used in a hole that is close to the same size as the casing.

crystalline; used in drilling reports.

XOR

exclusive or.

xylene

any of three flammable hydrocarbons, C6H4(CH3)2, similar to benzene. A commercial mixture is used as a solvent when oilfield emulsions are being tested.
